Venue
The free community health outreach camps are conducted in public secondary or primary schools central in location to the area concerned. This provides a convenient location for the local community to access and a suitably spacious working area for the medical professionals.
Project Monitoring and Evaluation
Each health worker at the medical camp will record disease incidence according to the complaints of the patients he/ she treats. This will be for the purposes of measuring trends and prevalence such that subsequent camps will reveal the impact of the service rendered. In this way, we will be able to observe whether the disease incidence is increasing or decreasing. This is a scientifically tried and tested method of assessment of the effectiveness of health services on a population. It will put our organization in a position to analyze our services objectively and illustrate where to improve in future.
Dissemination
Media coverage is important for the publicity of our events allowing it to grow towards self – sufficiency. It will also provide a conduit for tackling the larger scale issue of public heath articulating key points to the public in a manner that they can relate to well articulated to. Towards this goal, we are establishing longstanding relationships with local and international media outlets. Already, our events have been covered by NTV, KBC, K24, the Nation newspaper and the Kenya Times.
In addition to this, we have found the contribution of the local provincial administration invaluable in previous medical camps in notifying the target population about the purpose of the community outreach camp, how it will be done and what we have managed to do in the past. They greatly enhance cooperation in this regard.
